At the point of the short-circuit, there's a temperature effect that you can control.

High current means you're causing a high temperature at the short-circuit point.

Low current means that you cause a low temperature at the point of the short circuit.

Depending on the circuit you're repairing, you can modulate the current and temperature at the short-circuit location.

Then all you have to do is measure the temperature and find out where the short is.

Now all you have to do is remove the problem.
